SFHR and RW Strive For Racing Success

00

Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (SFHR) and proud partner Rotondo Weirich (RW), a construction business, are making strides forward in the racing community.

SFHR’s development driver Kyle O’Gara races for RW Motorsports, a USAC midget team, which is building the foundation for O’Gara’s dream to climb the Mazda Road to Indy ladder.

Steve Weirich, owner of RW and RW Motorsports, is thrilled to continue his support for the young SFHR team.

“After getting to know Sarah [Fisher] in USAC racing, I was able to see her values, integrity and commitment right away,” Weirich said. “She not only wants to be the best at what she does, but she also does things the right way. That totally lines up with how I run RW Motorsports as well as my construction business.”

Both SFHR and RW plan to help leverage one another’s resources in hopes of building their programs in coming years.

“With our short track passion at heart, Steve and SFHR have similar backgrounds that lend a great platform to launch from when working together on the various combined racing projects we’ve developed,” Sarah Fisher said. “Whether it’s the Indianapolis 500 or a USAC midget race, RW Motorsports and SFHR have the passion to grow the sport together. As a short track racer myself, it’s always wonderful to see an owner in that type of racing venturing into IndyCar.”

Weirich owns one of three No. 67 SFHR cars for the 2013 season, but the RW CEO aspires to work even more closely with IndyCar in the future.

“IndyCar is the epitome of racing,” Weirich said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to build up to that level of racing and to do it with an all- American racing team. The whole alignment of IndyCar racing and the passion I see from SFHR is the same passion I hold, and it’s the perfect alignment of goals.”

Weirich believes that USAC midget racing provides an exceptional training ground for drivers who aim to eventually drive in the IZOD IndyCar Series.

“USAC midget racing provides the initial training ground for the Mazda Road to Indy because you’re running some short and long distance races,” Weirich said. “Car control, maintaining the momentum in a four-cylinder engine, and managing tire wear are all things that these drivers need to learn to become true successful professionals.”

Kyle O’Gara, driving the No. 27 RW Motorsports car, will head west this weekend to race at Pikes Peak International Raceway, a track that was once familiar to the IndyCar schedule.

O’Gara claimed his first regional USAC win in 2011 and has finished in the top-10 in all of his races this season.
