Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (SFHR) is set to head south for the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston with a new “striking” look. All-American driver Josef Newgarden will represent SFHR’s primary sponsor, Strike, LLC, driving the red, white and blue No. 67 Strike Dallara/Honda/Firestone entry.

“I’m really excited about our sponsorship involvement with Strike this weekend,” Newgarden said. “I think Strike is an awesome company with great people and I can’t wait to spend the weekend with them. We definitely want to do a good job for them, but we also want to do a good job for ourselves.”

Fresh off his first career podium at the Grand Prix of Baltimore, Newgarden is looking forward to his debut on the Streets of Houston.

“We’re trying to review Houston as much as possible before we get there,” he said. “Champ Car has been there in the past and we have some video to look at so we’re trying to find as much data as we can. It’s really about figuring out the corner speeds and knowing exactly what we need from the car before we get there.”

The IZOD IndyCar Series field will have just 90 minutes of practice time before qualifications begin for the doubleheader race weekend.

“It’s challenging when you have doubleheaders, but it’s also really fun because it puts emphasis on figuring everything out really quickly,” Newgarden said. “The team that does that the best is going to be very successful over the weekend, and for us, I don’t see that as a negative. I think we’ll have a great car, we just have to be faster than everyone out of the gate.”

Not only is it Newgarden’s first time racing on the 10-turn, 1.683-mile temporary street circuit, but it is also the Nashville-native’s first time to ever set foot in Houston.

“I’ve never been to Houston before, but I’ve heard it’s a great place,” Newgarden said. “Texas is just good American vibes. Texas screams America! It’s fun to go down there and see all the traditions.”

The sophomore driver also believes Houston will be prosperous for the series.

“I think Houston is a great place for us,” Newgarden said. “We are going to find out this weekend how well it goes, but I love that we get to go to new destinations, find new fan groups and find different homes for IndyCar. Houston could very well be a new home for us in the future.”

Qualifications will be broadcast at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 4, and Race One will air live at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday Oct. 5. On Sunday, Oct. 6, live coverage of Race Two begins at 1 p.m. ET.
